For an industrial application within aluminium surface treatment, an axial roof fan has been supplied, specifically designed for operation in a chemically demanding production environment.
The fan is installed above an anodizing process, where aluminium components are treated to create a protective and decorative oxide layer. During this process, substances such as sulphuric acid (H₂SO₄) and sodium hydroxide (NaOH) are released. Combined with humid process air and varying temperatures, this results in an environment where material selection plays a key role in the reliability of the installation.
Ventilation in an industrial process environment
In this application, ventilation is not only about air movement, but primarily about stable and continuous extraction of process air directly above the production bath.
The axial roof fan is used for:
- extraction of chemical vapours above the anodizing process
- supporting a stable process environment
- continuous operation in industrial conditions
- installation on a roof above the production area
Supplied axial roof fan
For this project, an axial roof fan was supplied with the following main characteristics:
- Capacity: approx. 15,000 m³/h
- Motor power: 1.1 kW
The fan was selected based on the required duty point and the specific operating conditions of the installation.

Why RVS316?
RVS316 (stainless steel 316) is a stainless steel grade that offers increased resistance to moisture, chemical vapours and industrial process conditions. The addition of molybdenum to the alloy improves material performance in environments with chemical exposure and fluctuating temperatures.
In this axial roof fan, RVS316 is used for:
- housing
- mounting plate
- grille
This makes the material highly suitable for applications such as:
- aluminium surface treatment
- anodizing processes
- chemical industry applications
- industrial extraction above process baths
- outdoor roof installations in demanding environments
Design and components
In addition to the RVS316 construction, the fan is equipped with components tailored to industrial use:
- Plastic impeller for chemical resistance
- C5 coating on motor and impeller hub
- Direct-driven execution
- Isolator switch installed and connected
- Supplied with documentation and IIB declaration
The unit has been adapted to an existing roof penetration and base plate, ensuring efficient integration into the existing installation.
Material selection as the foundation for reliability
This project clearly demonstrates how process conditions and material selection are decisive factors in industrial ventilation.
By combining RVS316 with a plastic impeller and protective coatings, a durable solution is created that aligns well with continuous operation in an anodizing process environment.
