No two industrial installations are identical. Dimensions, ductwork layouts, flange connections and structural limitations vary from project to project. In a recent assignment, we supplied a centrifugal fan including fully custom-engineered connections to ensure seamless integration into the existing system.
Fixed connection tailored to the installation
When integrating a fan into an industrial system, a properly engineered connection is essential for both performance and reliability. In this project, a rigid connection between the fan and ductwork was required.
We manufactured a custom transition piece, precisely matched to the existing dimensions and connection details. Depending on the application, such transitions can be produced in:
- Carbon steel
- Stainless steel
- Aluminium
- Plastic materials
By aligning the transition piece exactly with the installation, pressure losses, mechanical stress and installation issues on site are prevented.
Flexible connection for vibration and thermal compensation
In many applications, a rigid connection is not the preferred solution. Vibrations, thermal expansion or structure-borne noise may require additional flexibility. In such cases, a flexible connection for industrial fans provides the right solution.
For this project, flexible transitions were installed on both the inlet and discharge side of a centrifugal fan. The application involved operating temperatures of approximately 150°C. The flexible connections provide:
- Vibration isolation
- Reduction of structure-borne noise
- Compensation for misalignment
- Flexibility under thermal expansion
Depending on process conditions, different materials and constructions are available. This includes applications involving aggressive substances or vapours, elevated temperatures or installations within ATEX environments.

A fan performs optimally when the connection to the system is equally well engineered. That is why we consider not only airflow and pressure requirements, but also mechanical integration, temperature conditions and environmental factors.
